ABSTRACT
In many case, a linear dynamic model of a large-scale system is a high order model. In high order model cases the resultant control system is complicated. Then a method for the model reduction is of fundamental importance in many modelling and control applications. The model reduction is to make the model be simplified as much as possible without spoiling characteristics of a system that is especially considered to be important on the design of a control system. Balanced realization is one of the method for the model reduction. Balanced realization is used to construct a canonical form for the set of minimal and asymptotically stable MIMO systems of a given order.
But in unsatable cases, Balanced realization can not be used as in stable cases. Then we use coprime factorization in unstable cases.
In this paper, we apply coprime factorization to balanced realization in unstable case. We calculate a normalized fractional representation of a transfer function of an unstable system and calculate balanced realization with this representation.
