ABSTRACT |
A new method is proposed for detecting steel pipe corrosion. Random noise is transmitted from one end of a pipe and the particle velocity picked up at the other end is processed to obtain the partial auto-correlation coefficients. The cross-sectional area function of the pipe wall is calculated from these coefficients. The pipe corrosion can be detected from the change in the cross-sectional area of the wall. |
