ABSTRACT |
This paper describes an on-line motion capture system based on factorization. The system is composed of a PC for motion recovery calculation, a server PC, and (F-1) client PCs each connected to a LAN. F CCD cameras are linked to the¡¡F PCs, respectively, to capture human motions on-line. This system doesn¡Çt require a special environment or background such as a studio for human motion capturing. Moreover, calibration of the cameras is not necessary. The image coordinates of the feature points obtained through the captured images are transferred to the server PC which collects the coordinates into a measurement matrix at each sample time. These matrices are then merged into a single extended measurement matrix to which factorization is applied and the 3-D human motion recovers. The proposed system shows satisfactory performance to human moderate motions. |
