ABSTRACT
A novel method is proposed for measurering the surface area of an object. Since sound absorption occurs when sound waves strike an object, the reverberation time of an enclosure is closely related to the surface area of the object placed in it. An experimental device was built which employs a correlation technique for measuring the reverberation time of its cavity. The relation between the reverberation time and the inner surface area of the cavity was investigated with this device and the success of the proposed method was verified.
