ABSTRACT
Computerized sleep stage scoring is an helpful way for sleep studies. Usually, sleep was discriminated into awake, REM, stage 1, 2, 3 and 4 according to the guidelines published by Rechtschaffen and Kales. But in this study, we classified open and close eyes during awake, according to the different amount of alpha activity between those two sub-states. And such kind of classification was adopted into the automatic sleep stage determination which was based on the multi-valued decision making method proposed by some of the authors in the recent years. The result showed an agreement at 79.3% with the visual inspection made by skillful doctors, where the accuracy of stage awake was 93.9%.
